Title: Dean of Students
Daily Responsibilities:
- Assist with Morning and Afternoon carpool duties.
- Work with teachers and administration to assess and improve student behavior.
- Be a visible, approachable presence around the school, in the hallways and throughout the building working to build rapport and trust with students and staff.
- Support faculty in classroom management, parent communication, and building a positive school climate.
- Support administrators with tasks as needed.
- Monitor PA Daily.
Behavior Management:
- Complete incident reports through NCSIS for all office referrals.
- Escalate decisions about discipline to the Assistant Principal and Principal as appropriate. Handle all parent notifications for suspensions.
- Complete follow up documentation, and parent contacts related to discipline.
- Handle Investigations for all class 1 and class 2 offenses. Handle class 3 behaviors in collaboration with the Principal and Assistant Principal.
- Communicate behavior decisions with parents and teachers.
- Track behaviors for consequence decisions and the need for MTSS behavior interventions.
- Partner with School Social Worker to set up and progress monitor interventions.
- Supports implementation of SEL curriculum.
- ISS coverage when needed.
- Detention coverage when needed.
- Assist with accountability for student expectations.
- Help as needed with re-entry meetings with students after OSS.
- Develop and implement interventions to support behavior including (this can include support with work completion, and executive functioning skills).
- Monitor At-Risk student data/Participate on MTSS at-risk team.
- Monitor student tardy and absence data and offering support as needed.
Attends:
- Curriculum Night.
- Field trips as requested by the Principal.
- School Events.
- MTSS meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education Required, Masters degree preferred.
- Prior experience with middle grades (grades 6-8) in teaching, counseling, or school leadership strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of adolescent development and effective behavioral interventions.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership and communication skills.
- Salary commensurate with experience.
